چکیده
Abstract This (two-season) study was undertaken to assess the involvement of gibberellins (GAs), cytokinins (CKs), and auxins (AX) in dormancy sweet cherry buds ‘Summit’. Our hypothesis consisted assumption that representatives these hormone groups are able mark transition between different phases. Changes endo- ecodormancy stages ontogenetic development were not recognizable by bioactive GA 1 , 5 7 . The transient increase 3 during might be interpreted as an indication preservation ecodormancy. content biological active bases t Z, c DHZ equal However, increased significantly first phase development. summation various CKs (total iP-type, total Z-type, CK bases, ribosides, nucleotides, O -glucosides, N CKs) showed no differences regarding their levels These values markedly subsequent phase. AX after By contrast, from side green until open cluster occurred. As shown for AX, oxIAA IAAsp low endodormancy transiently early revealed changes GAs (exception ), CKs, occurred winter rest, more precisely, metabolites, therefore, suitable differentiate ontogenesis is accompanied specific molecules, precursors, conjugation products.

Dormant Flower Buds Actively Accumulate Starch over Winter in Sweet Cherry
Temperate woody perennials survive to low temperatures in winter entering a dormant stage. Dormancy is not just a survival strategy, since chilling accumulation is required for proper flowering and arbitrates species adaptation to different latitudes. In spite of the fact that chilling requirements have been known for two centuries, the biological basis behind remain elusive. Since chilling acc...
متن کاملTranscriptome and Metabolite Changes during Hydrogen Cyanamide-Induced Floral Bud Break in Sweet Cherry
Release of bud dormancy in perennial woody plants is a temperature-dependent process and thus flowering in these species is heavily affected by climate change. The lack of cold winters in temperate growing regions often results in reduced flowering and low fruit yields. This is likely to decrease the availability of fruits and nuts of the Prunus spp. in the near future. In order to maintain hig...
متن کاملScreening Sweet Cherry Selections for Dormant Floral Bud Hardiness
In Dec. 1990, sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) selections varied in floral bud kill from 9% to 92% following exposure to severe cold. In the following winter, the hardiness of two hardy and two tender selections was analyzed by differential thermal analysis (DTA) to screen selections for hardiness. In a mild winter, when buds remained at their minimum hardiness level, the hardy selections consist...
متن کاملAscorbic acid metabolism during sweet cherry (Prunus avium) fruit development
To elucidate metabolism of ascorbic acid (AsA) in sweet cherry fruit (Prunus avium 'Hongdeng'), we quantified AsA concentration, cloned sequences involved in AsA metabolism and investigated their mRNA expression levels, and determined the activity levels of selected enzymes during fruit development and maturation. We found that AsA concentration was highest at the petal-fall period (0 days afte...
متن کاملCyanogenic Glucosides and Derivatives in Almond and Sweet Cherry Flower Buds from Dormancy to Flowering
Almond and sweet cherry are two economically important species of the Prunus genus. They both produce the cyanogenic glucosides prunasin and amygdalin. As part of a two-component defense system, prunasin and amygdalin release toxic hydrogen cyanide upon cell disruption. In this study, we investigated the potential role within prunasin and amygdalin and some of its derivatives in endodormancy re...
